Red Hat EX374 Exam Details
A four-hour exam with nothing to look up
EX374 earns you the Red Hat Certified Specialist in Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform. It is not a written paper. Red Hat gives you one or more virtual systems and a list of real tasks, and you have four hours to complete them. There are no multiple choice questions and nothing to guess at.
Three details decide how you should prepare. You get no internet access during the exam, and you may not bring any documentation, printed or electronic. Every configuration must survive a reboot without you touching it — Red Hat states this for all its performance-based exams, and it is a common way to lose marks on work that was otherwise correct. And Red Hat does not publish a passing score or tell you which individual items you got wrong. Our programme is built around that reality: live online sessions across India, with classroom sessions at our Kharadi campus in Pune.
Exam Overview

| Exam code |
EX374 |
| Certification earned |
Red Hat Certified Specialist in Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform |
| Certifying body |
Red Hat. No third-party body is involved. |
| Duration |
Four hours |
| Format |
Hands-on and practical. Red Hat’s own wording: you are provided with one or more virtual systems and required to perform tasks similar to those you would perform on the job. No multiple choice. |
| Product version |
Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.5. Material written for older versions will teach you things the current exam does not reflect. |
| Resources during the exam |
None. No internet access is provided, and no hard copy or electronic documentation may be brought in. |
| Persistence requirement |
As with all Red Hat performance-based exams, configurations must persist after reboot without intervention. Work that only holds until the machine restarts does not count. |
| Passing score |
Not published. Red Hat does not disclose passing scores, and does not tell you how you performed on individual items. |
| Results |
Usually reported within 3 US business days, through Red Hat Certification Central. |
| Validity |
3 years. Renewal must be completed before the expiry date — an expired Red Hat certification cannot be renewed, and has to be earned again from the start. Diarise it. |
| Counts towards |
Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA). |
| Prerequisites |
None enforced. Red Hat recommends Developing Advanced Automation with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AU374) or comparable work experience, plus Red Hat System Administration III: Linux Automation (AU294) or equivalent. It also suggests reviewing the exam objectives and taking the free skills assessment first. |
| Fee |
Red Hat prices exams by country and sells them individually and through the Red Hat Learning Subscription, so we do not print a rupee figure here. Check the current price on Red Hat’s exam page for India before you book.

What EX374 Tests
These follow Red Hat’s published exam objectives. Red Hat does not attach percentage weightings to them, so none are shown.
| Area |
What you have to be able to do |
| Git and project management |
Manage playbook content in Git and sync it into automation controller as a project. |
| Inventories, variables and credentials |
Build inventories, understand variable precedence, and configure credentials in the controller. |
| Advanced task execution |
Implement loops using structures other than simple lists, and control when a task runs, changes or fails. |
| Lookups and queries |
Use lookup and query functions to bring data from external sources into playbooks. |
| Data transformation with filters |
Inspect, validate and manipulate variables — including variables containing networking information — using filters. |
| Task delegation |
Run work on a host other than the one being targeted, and control rollout order. |
| Content collections |
Consume, build and manage Ansible Content Collections. |
| Execution environments |
Build and use execution environments so playbooks run the same everywhere. |
| Automation controller |
Manage inventories, credentials and job execution inside automation controller. |
How We Prepare You
- Four-hour timed runs with no documentation: rehearsed exactly as the exam works, because the first time you try to write a filter chain from memory should not be on exam day.
- Persistence checked every time: every lab ends with a reboot and a re-check. It is the easiest habit to build and the most expensive one to skip.
- Platform 2.5, not older Ansible: execution environments and content collections are core to this exam and absent from most free tutorials written for earlier versions.
- Variable precedence taught deliberately: it is the most common cause of “it worked yesterday”, and it is examinable.
- Honest sequencing: if you have never written a playbook, we will tell you to start with Ansible fundamentals or EX294 rather than sell you this course.
- Your certificate: issued by Red Hat through Certification Central, not by any training provider. You claim and share it yourself.
Where We Checked
Every figure above comes from Red Hat’s own pages:
the EX374 exam page,
Red Hat certification renewal, and the
Red Hat training and certification FAQ.
We last checked these on 30 August 2026. Red Hat revises exam objectives and platform versions without notice — if you find a difference on their site, theirs is correct, and we would be glad to be told.
